Throne of Truth by Pepper Winters

Publication Date: February 28th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
TWO YEARS
Since my life changed for the second time and not necessarily for the better. Two years since I traded prison bars for streets and hunted a runaway who I’d met in an alley.
TWO DAYS
Since I forgot how to lie, woke to fists, and chased after the girl who’d been stolen from me.
TWO HOURS
To save her, rescue her, keep my lies intact. She looks at me full of hate. I look at her full of confession.
TWO MINUTES
For our relationship to switch from mutual dislike to floundering with unknowns. I’ve hurt her. Now, she’s hurt me. I guess we’re even.
TWO SECONDS
For her to listen, to see, to finally know who I am. The answer comes with hardship. The answer isn’t what she wants to hear.
TWO BREATHS
For me to walk out the door.
TWO HEARTBEATS
For it all to be over.

4/5 Stars

Throne of Truth was an amazing conclusion to the Truth and Lies duet.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book!  Crown of Lies left off with a huge cliffhanger so the need for this book was profound.  Throne of Truth picks up right where Crown of Lies left off. I loved how I was able to read from both Elle's and Penn's POV.  With how Penn acted, I loved seeing how he really felt.  I was able to understand him better.  As well as Elle.

I love Elle so much!!!  Even though she is the heiress of Belle Elle and extremely wealthy, she still treats everyone equally.  Elle never looks down on others.  She accepts them for who they are, past and all.  I loved how strong she was.  What Greg put her through, she fought long and hard.  Never gave up and never gave in.  She also fought so hard for Penn.  After what went down with him, she did everything she could to get him out.  She had the guilt of leaving him there the first time, she wasn't about to do it again.

I was very shocked with what was going on with Penn.  He did whatever he could to save Elle and that puts him in even more big trouble.  I couldn't believe the conspiracy that was set to tarnish him.  Everything has been blamed on him to protect someone else, and I felt so bad for him.  He was a boy when this all started and he couldn't do anything about it.  So I loved, loved. loved that he finally took a stand to fight against it.  He just had to beat one battle before this battle though.  He had to face off with Greg. I was really shocked with Penn's past and present.  How he would get blamed for crimes he didn't do and stuff that he actually did do would get changed to something worse.

I loved the relationship between Elle and Penn.  The love they had for each other was so intense.  Each person kept making mistakes, and I really wanted to get in there and yell at them a few times.  They always wanted to do what was best for each other even though what they thought was best actually hurt them. When they both finally tell each other the truths that they have kept hidden, I could tell a huge weight lifted off their shoulders.  Penn finally became the guy he always was before he wanted revenge.  I loved how selfless both Elle and Penn were.  They always put each other over themselves.  And boy they both fought hard.

I was shocked with all the revelations and secrets in this book. I was a little confused with who Penn could be, because of the shocker at the end of Crown of Lies.  I was glad to learn who Penn really was, and he was who I suspected him to be. I loved how Gio was mentioned turning his life around and how Elle finally faced him.  Thieves become saints and saints become thieves.  I believe that whole-heartedly.  I am so glad he is getting a second chance.  But then again, I am also glad that Greg and Twig will get what is coming to them.

Throne of Truth was an edgy an gripping story that took me completely by surprise.  This book went completely in a different way than where I thought it was going to go.  Even though I really, really loved the first book compared to this one, I still enjoyed it immensely.  I am really sad to see this duet end.  Throne of Truth pulled so many emotions from me.  I really want to see more of these characters. I love this series so much!!  It is a definite reread for me!
