Both have what she wants … but only one has what she needs.

Working with professional athletes and helping them recover from their injuries has always been Kate Townsend’s dream, but after an accident left her scarred and heartbroken years ago she refuses to let what happened in her past happen again. Staying focused is the key, as well as not letting her feelings interfere with her job … no matter the circumstances. All of that is easier said than done when not only one, but two men crave her healing touch, igniting every single desire she’s denied herself for so long.

Cooper Davis, NFL’s star quarterback and most eligible bachelor, packs up and leaves his home to move across the states to the East Coast after an injury results in the embarrassing trade to another team. Bitter from the pain, he deals with his problems through drugs and alcohol—almost ruining his football career—until he meets the one woman who makes him want to feel; the same woman who refuses to give up on him no matter how many times he screws up. He has to have her, and he’s not going to stop until he makes her his. Especially, now that someone else threatens to take her away.

Motocross champion and local bad boy Luke Collins never takes no for an answer. For the past four months he’s used his charms to get what he wants, and now he’s so close to getting the girl of his dreams … if she’ll give in just once. One time is all he needs, and he’s never been known to fail, but he’s also never had to fight for a woman’s affections. Only one man will win their way into Kate’s heart, but which one will intercept the other and take what they want? Which one will she choose?

Review

L.P. Dover has scored a TOUCHDOWN with Intercepting Love!!!! She has done it again. First off, I want to say how much I love this series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the way each book intertwines with the other is absolutely brilliant. In Intercepting Love, we get Cooper's and Kate's story. I got to know a little about Cooper in a previous book when he was dating Claire. I really felt bad for Cooper in Meant for Me, because he seemed like such a great guy. I was so glad L.P decided to give him his own story. Kate is their team physician. She loved working for the football team. She didn't have to worry about the guys making moves on her, because her brother was on the team and he made sure he told them. I was glad that the story switched POVs between Kate and Cooper. Being inside both of their heads let me connect with both of them even more.

Cooper and Kate both have skeletons in their closet. I love how both become what each other needs to get past it. They lean on each other and are there for each other during their lowest points. That is what love is after all. Being at your lowest point and having that one person there to help push you through. I love how protective Cooper was of Kate and Vise Versa. When Cooper first arrived, I loved how Kate wouldn't even give him the time of day. Cooper never gave up though. He was a very persistent man and a huge flirt. Kate had no chance.

There was a love triangle in Intercepting Love. Luke is the best friend of Kate's brother. He has a past of being a player as well but there was something about Kate that he wanted as well. They were friends for so long and he tried to get her on a date several times. When she finally agreed, Cooper came into the picture. Luke seemed like a great guy. I hope I get to see more of him in the future.

This story was beautifully written and the the character development was perfect!!! Kate and Cooper both grew so much by the end of the story. This story felt so real and life like that I was able to feel everything that the characters for feeling. I felt as if I was there the entire time rooting for them. The suspense was killing me in this book!!! Even though I knew who was doing it, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time waiting for them to strike again. Intercepting Love was a real page turner. It was full of love and suspense from the very beginning. I was hooked after the very first page and did not want to put it down. I can't wait to see where L.P takes us next!!!! I highly recommend this book!!!!

Excerpt:

: “In your eyes I see exactly what I want. You’re not here with me because of my money or because of what I do. You actually see the people you’re around and the goodness inside of them. That is what gives me hope.”
“Hope for what?” I asked breathlessly, mesmerized.
He brushed my hair away from my face and smoothed his thumb along my jaw. “Hope that one day you will see in my eyes what I see in yours. There’s a craving deep inside of you that I can see each time I touch you. It burns brighter every single time. I’ve never seen that with anyone, and that is how I know I have a chance.”

Author Interview

1.  How many books will we see in this series?  The Second Chances's Series?

To be honest, I have no clue how many there will be. I plan to keep it going to for a while. There are so many second chance stories to be told. J

2.  I don't really know how to ask this question lp so gonna explain it the best I can.  In this series, we see different types of men.  First couple books we see entrepreneurs or business type men.  If that is what you called them lol.  Then we move to MMA fighters and football players.  What other types will be seeing in the future?

This is a good question, Kristina. I changed it up on purpose like that putting them in sets of two. Yes, I have the first two as my sexy billionaire type men, then we move on to the next two books which deal with fighters, and then the next two will be football players starting with Intercepting Love and Catching Summer. Once those are over I’m moving on to my motocross racers and then baseball players. I’m sure I’ll think of others to do once those are completed … lol.

3.  How many books will be in this series?

So many possibilities. Don’t know specifically just yet.

4.  Are you working on anything new that is top secret?

Well … maybe not exactly top secret, but I am working on a new fighter series. It’s going to be one hot ride with these guys. I’m super excited about them. Also, I’m dabbling in the paranormal and have just written a werewolf story called, Turn of the Moon. The first part of it will be released in a boxed set in July, but then I’m going to release the whole novel this winter. Love me some werewolves.

5.  What book has been your favorite to write from this series?

This is a hard question … but I think it’s going to be a tie. My all time favorite has been Meant for Me, but I absolutely LOVED writing Intercepting Love. They are a part of me and I love them all.

6.  Who is your favorite character from this series?  From Intercepting Love?

Out of the whole series I would definitely say my favorite character is Mason from Meant for Me. He’s hard core and doesn’t like to sugar coat things. He says what he wants, even if it pisses you off. He’s also a dirty talker which I think is sexy … lol. My favorite character in Intercepting Love is, of course, Cooper. What’s not to love about a hot football player. J

7.  If you could trade places with one character from your stories, who would it be and why?  From another author's?

I would have to say I would like to trade places with Kate in Intercepting Love. To be chased by two men would be hot … lol.

8.  Do you plot out your series as a whole?  Is each book planned in advance?

Usually when I start writing I have the whole book planned out. Most of the time the plot changes and I have to redo what I’ve started, but for the most part I already know what I’m going to write before I even type out the title.

9.  Do you have any advice for aspiring readers and writers?

Oh wow, there’s so much I could say it would take forever. I would start off saying … don’t rush into things. Work on your book and make it perfect before you publish it. Get an editor, a professional cover designer and formatter. I will admit, I rushed into publishing my first book and I regret it. Now it’s been edited and rewritten because there were so many flaws it’s ridiculous. I wish I would’ve known the importance of taking your time. Another thing, never give up. Not everyone achieves instant success and sometimes it takes years. You just have to be willing to put in the time, money, and effort. It’s not easy.

10.  What actor and actress would you see play Kate and Cooper?

For Cooper, I can totally see Nick Bateman playing him … very sexy. For Kate, I can see Claire Holt playing her.

11.  What is your favorite thing about writing?  Why do you love it so much?  What made you want to become a writer?

I love being able to escape into the different worlds and different lives of others. It’s a time when I can write out my own fantasies and things I wish I would’ve done in life. For years, I had always wanted to write and I have the imagination for it, but I never thought it would be possible to fulfill my dreams. I’m so glad I took a chance on it.

12.  Do your stories sometimes take a new turn when you write them?

Oh, definitely. I’ve had to erase chapter after chapter sometimes because the whole plot changed. I don’t think I’ve written a book yet that hasn’t had a new turn in them. So if you’ve read any of my books, just know that the way it turned out wasn’t the original … lol.

13.  Who will we be seeing in the next Second chance book?  Title?  What will it be about?

My next second chance book will be with Evan Townsend and it’s titled Catching Summer. He’s Kate’s brother in Intercepting Love. He’s not the quarterback like Cooper, but he’s the best wide receiver in the NFL. He and Cooper make a dangerous team. J Evan has a problem with finding ‘real’ women. All of them want to be seen on his arm in public, but none of them actually want to get to know him; they want the fame and notoriety of dating a famous football star. He’s tired of the usual games and he’s ready to settle down. It just so happens that his eye falls on Summer, his sister’s friend. Her husband was killed in Meant for Me and she was there, witnessing it. So needless to say, she has a lot to deal with and what better way than to take a chance on someone real … someone who can mend her heart.

14.  What is your favorite genre to read?  To write?

That’s easy, Romantic Suspense. Love to read it and definitely love to write it.

15.  How long does it take you to write a book?  Can you give us a little insight into your writing process?

It usually takes me about six weeks to write a full novel. That’s not including editing or anything. Most of the time I try to write at least 3k words a day. Sometimes that’s not possible if I have family stuff to deal with or if my house is a mess … lol. Once I write the first draft, I go back through and read it again and make my changes. This is usually when I add a ton of stuff to the book. I used to write everything out freehanded, but I stopped doing that. It took up too much extra time doing that. Now I just sit in my favorite recliner and type away.
Thank you for having me!
