Just look at her! Who does she think she is? Strutting in with her wavy shoulder length brown hair, framing a heart shaped face and Lavender eyes. Wearing a size 8 Leather outfit as she enters the paranormal arena throwing up Rock Horns, followed by her motley looking crew:
Paige Hendrix- The tall, long blonde haired, blue eyed best friend.
Oliver Zane "Ozzie"- The bad boy supernatural/paranormal hunter who is dating the best friend and perhaps the only human in the group.
Jaxson- The scruffy haired man with chocolate mousse eyes whom she is in love with but cannot have. Although, he begs to differ.
Sebastian-The tall, pale, and handsome dreamboat that dances his way into her arms and steals the only life she knows.
I will tell you who she is, Anna Skott! The newest face on the scene and the most promised to be on everyone’s lips. She’s not your average Jane and not your stereotypical Vampire. Her persona is way cooler than humans and a totally different breed in the vampire world. Anna is truly a one of a kind.
My Review
This book took me on an adventure I didn't expect. I wasn't sure I was going to like after the reading the synopsis, but I really did enjoy it. What I loved about this book was that it took a new spin on supernatural beings and vampire lore. It was really interesting that vampires can maybe crave something other than blood. It doesn't even have to be something they eat to sustain them. I haven't read another book like it and that gives it several more bonus points. I also loved how the story swapped between Anna and Jack to Paige and Ozzie's story. It was nice to have the narration change throughout the story so I was able to connect with all four of those characters.
I really adored all the characters in this story. It was very easy to connect with all of them. Character development is really important for me. I love seeing characters grow and become who they are supposed to be. The character development in this story was on point.
Anna was turned into a vampire on accident. Poor Sebastian tried not to, but he lost the fight. Anna doesn't hat him after all that time, but she dislikes him. I think Sebastian grew on her a little bit. Sebastian and Jack always made sure she was always protected. Anna is not your typical vampire though and neither is Sebastian. I thought it was really interesting on what really sustains them and how that even happened to begin with. I hope one day she can forgive him, because Sebastian really did grow on me. He was so upset that he lost control.
Jaxson is full of sexiness. He is just drop dead gorgeous. He is really sweet and very protective over Anna. He has always felt something for her and I couldn't believe his best friend would sleep with her and change her knowing how he felt. That is Sebastian though. He couldn't help himself. He was interested in her as well. I also enjoyed learning about Jaxson's story. When I was getting to the end, I finally saw where it was going and who he really was. It was very sweet to know how long he has been watching over her. Jaxson loves her unconditionally and just wants her to give him a chance.
Paige is Anna's best friend. They have been friends since grade school. Her relationship with Ozzie was so adorable. I was really shocked to find out what Anna was all along. Paige really helped Anna through the changes in her life. Anna and Paige are as thick as thieves. Where one goes, the other follows. I love, love, love Ozzie. He is a supernatural hunter but doesn't kill all supernaturals. He just kills the ones that actually hurt the humans. He is one of my favorite characters in this book.
Rock n Roll Promises had so many twists and turns that it kept me on the edge of my seat. Some parts even left me shell shocked, especially the ending. I knew something would have to happen to Ozzie since he was the only human out of the bunch, but darn, I got scared there for a minute. That ending left me speechless. That cliffhanger definitely left me wanting more. AmBear did a fantastic job with this story. I can't wait to find out what happens next with these characters.
