Synopsis

Number ten is plastered on his team jersey and on his ego. In his own mind, Crown Sterling is the shit. He dates the prettiest women, he dominates on the soccer field, he pours money out of his pockets like it’s water. Until a debilitating knee injury puts him out of commission on and off the field. He’s sent to an isolated town in Louisiana to recoup, undergo physical therapy and heal. But it’s when you’re down that you find out who your real friends are, and what they value in you, if anything at all.
All Lyra wants out of life is peace and quiet. She grew up with a regular, everyday family. When she turned sixteen, rummaging through her grandmother’s hope chest in the attic, she discovered a secret that would turn her simple, normal life into a ball of chaos that revolved around her. But while she seems to face her fears head on in her career, she lives a life that’s secure and well hidden.
A new neighbor moved in next door and he’s decided that everyone needs to listen to his rap music, shattering Lyra’s quiet existence. Enraged, she stomps to the next townhouse over and who should open the door but a man whose good looks and charming smile knock her breathless.
How good looking? Just ask him.
How charming? He’ll tell you that too.
The king must be dethroned.

And a small town girl who’s been through hell is just the one to do it.

Review
Dethroning Crown is another awe-inspiring book written by the one and only Lila Felix!!!  I have read most of Lila's books, and there hasn't been one that I haven't loved.  Each book that she creates becomes better and better.  Dethroning Crown was a little different from Lila's usual books. She always writes the sweet, loving guys that we can't help but fall in love with.  Well, let me tell you something about Crown Sterling.  Crown Sterling is an arrogant jerk.  A jerk who I eventually fell in love with, and that is one of the things that I loved about  this book.  Crown completely changed by the end of the story.  The character development was spot on!!!!  I also love how we get to read the story from both Crown and Lyra's point of view.

Lyra has suffered so much throughout her life.  After what that creep did to her, she hasn't let anyone in her life period.  She pretty much swore off guys and who could blame her.  Lyra suffers paranoia big time now.  She basically has OCD with anything electronic so she has to check it several times over and over before she feels safe and secure.  Being outside, is more comfortable to Lyra than being inside.  Silence.  That is one important thing she has to have.  So when her next door neighbor has his music blaring, she rushes over there and lets him have it!!!  What I love about Lyra is that she doesn't want to like him, but does.  She sees the good in him.  The person that he can be if given the chance, and I really adored her because of that.  I loved watching her feelings grow and change for Crown.  She slowly let him in when she wouldn't anyone else.

Crown always thought he was the big kahuna.  Nobody mattered but him.  He honestly treated people like crap, and I didn't like him at first.  It really wasn't his fault though so I can't really blame him.  That was the way he was raised.  The only way he knew how to be.  After injuring his knee in a game, Crown is whisked away to Louisiana to be under the care of his uncle who he has no relationship with.  After Lyra tells him off one day, they can't get enough of each other.  They make a deal that helps both their careers out only it seems to bring them closer.  Being around Lila, he finally got to see how empty his life was, realizing he had nobody.  That everyone he thought liked him, didn't in fact like him.  Crown Sterling changed because of Lila. It was so heartwarming to be able to see and feel that.  Boy, he got so jealous and possessive of her!!!  Crown Sterling quit talking like this after Lyra made fun of him for it.  Crown Sterling finally found something more important than himself and soccer.

Lila crafted a unique story that had me me from the very beginning and never let me go!!!  Dethroning Crown was a fun, fast-paced story that definitely left me wanting more!!!  I am hoping against all hope here that Lila writes a sequel.  Crown Sterling is so awesome he needs another book!!!  I want to find out what happens next!!!  The ending was left open a little to me.  Crown still has a lot of changing to do, and I was wondering if anything became of Lyra's stalker after he got out. I have been waiting impatiently to read Dethroning Crown for a while now, and it was well worth the wait!!!  This book is a MUST read everyone!!!  I already want to reread it!!!  I highly recommend it!!!
