Review

Dead of Night was a story so unlike others that I have read before.  When I heard about this book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.  Even the cover of the book pulled me in.  Major cover love.  So when I had the chance to read and review it, I was excited beyond belief.  I loved that this story had dual POVs.  I loved being inside both Opel's and Aecker's heads.  I was able to understand them a little more and that helped.  I loved the uniqueness of the story.  What Opel really was and how she came to be I thought was interesting.  It had an intriguing premise that definitely caught my attention.

After being attacked, Opel wakes up with no memory of who she is or what has happened.
Opel was a tracker, not human.  No feelings, no nothing.  Only death and destruction are what trackers see.  Or so they thought.  The more Opel hung around Aecker, the more she changed.  She was slowly turning human.  She even got sick after seeing blood!!!  Out of the whole story, she showed the most growth and change.  Aecker became everything to her.  Even though she was going soft, she still new how to kick some major butt!!!  It was also very different for a tracker to completely shut down and come back.  She is different somehow.  I can't wait to learn all about the details of what makes her unique and special.  And the important question why?  Why her.  What has she hidden that they all want?  Can't wait to find out!!!

Aecker is a sweetheart yet he is a protector.  The way he protects Opel is so sweet.  But he has the moves of a Tracker.  So that leaves me wondering if he has been encoded without himself knowing.  He cares so deeply and that is what I love about him.  He has suffered through so much and became the amazing man he is because of it.  He cares for the people of Cupola. After his brother has been captured he goes on a rescue mission alone leaving Opel with Noah. He is then captured because he doesn't want to see the people hurt because of him.

Noah is a character that I didn't like at the beginning, but he is slowly growing on me.  He is changing being around Opel and Aecker.  I LOVED the banter between Opel and Noah while they were together.  It was hilarious!!!

Even though I enjoyed the story, I did have a few problems with it.  The plot moved so fast that I had trouble picturing what was going on.  I just couldn't see it.  I had to go back and reread at times.  Another issue I had was, I felt as if chunks of the story were missing. For example, one paragraph talked about how Opel couldn't remember.  Then the next paragraph she remembered.  I was like "when did that happen?"  I just felt as if chunks of the story was missing.  That happened on more than one occasion throughout the story.  I also wish I connected with the characters a little more. Other than that, it was a fantastic read.

Dead of Night was a fun-fast paced story that hooked me from the very beginning.  It does leave off with a little cliffhanger so I have to wait until the next book to see what happens next.  Hopefully I don't have to wait too long Carlyle!!!!  There were so huge twists with this story especially at the ending.  Can't believe who the guard really is!!!!  Can't wait to see what happens with that!!!  I also want to know the secrets that Opel has hidden.  That is what is really liking me.  I am having one of those need to know moments!!!  This story is a must read and I highly recommend it!!!
