Review

Distraction is an enthralling story that had me completely hooked from the very first page. One of the things that I loved about this book was how it is a friends to lovers story.  Elle and Tristan have been friends since they were little kids.  They have always put each other first even when others tried to get in between them.  I loved watching their relationship grow and develop more as the story progressed.  I loved how Angela swapped POVs between Elle and Tristan.  It was nice to get inside their heads to see how each of them truly felt about each other.  I was able to connect with the characters more that way.  Distraction also felt so real and raw to me.  I would consider Elle and Tristan friends of mine.  Everything situation they faced was something that we have faced or will face in the future.

I adored Elle as a character. She has had a tough life and still hasn't changed who she was.  After her parents divorced and her father left, her sister, Heather, disappeared as well and got into drugs pretty bad.  Elle was always looking for her since they were always close.  Her mother always seems to put her sister before her.  But Elle still doesn't change.  She still cares deeply and always put others before her.  She always had Tristan at her side.  He was always there for her and protected her.  I adored Tristan.  He is so protective and possessive over Ellie.  Even being with his childish girlfriend, he still cared about Elle more.   They both have loved each other for so long, but didn't think they had a chance with each other.  They have always been family to each other and it was very sweet.

Distraction was a fantastic story from start to finish.  There is a cliffhanger that definitely left me wanting more.  I have several unanswered questions, especially with Heather so I am hoping there will be a sequel.  Please write a sequel Angela!!!!  I want to see what happens next with Elle and Tristan!!!  Distraction is a book that I will definitely reread!!!!  I highly recommend this book to everyone!!!  It is a story that will stay with you!!!

Excerpt:

Frantically, I searched her face until I reached her wounded eyes, and my insides knotted with uncertainty. I claimed her lips with mine, fitting perfectly together. Her mouth opened, and the salty taste of her tears forced reality into the room. As much as I wanted the kiss to linger, I had to make her understand how much I wanted her, and only her. Reluctantly, I backed away.
"I've loved you since we were kids. I wanted it to be me instead of that dick, Mark James, on your first date. I've wanted you so fucking bad, but I never told you how I felt because the thought of losing you, even as a friend, terrified me."
Her green, shock-filled eyes pooled with tears again. I did the only thing I thought would make her believe me. My hand wrapped around the back of her head, fingers weaving through her hair. I inched her closer until I felt her soft lips against mine.
The kiss started in a slow exploration. The moment my tongue met hers, her breath caught and her body shivered. My heart raced like a jackhammer when her fingers spread through my wet hair and the kiss deepened.
Damn she felt good, and tasted even better. Her lips were soft, but eager for more. Her hair felt like smooth silk beneath my hand. I wrapped my other arm around her waist and pulled her tighter against me, only it wasn't enough. I wanted more.

Teasers/Quotes:

I fisted my fingers in his hair wanting, no needing, to get lost in his embrace. His distraction was what I had needed to finally let go.

Tristan devoured me in his arms, squeezing me tight. I allowed his embrace, wanting to hold on to the moment before it was gone...lost to someone else.

I ran my thumb over her bottom lip, needing to be sure she was really there and not a figment of my imagination. I didn't wonder long. Taking control, Elle grabbed my shirt and crashed her lips to mine.
Best. Fucking. Kiss. Ever.

I held her thighs tighter, my fingers digging into the silk material, but the contact wasn't enough. I wanted more. I needed to feel her skin, touch her body, feel her clench around me as I rocked into her over and over. I wanted to watch her cheeks blush when she came. I wanted to make her lose control. I wanted her begging for more.

When I walked out, I almost turned back around. Ginger looked at me as though she’d been starved, which she probably was. She'd only eaten half her salad.

Yeah, Elle knew how I felt, but I needed to up my game...give her a little something to think about.

Wanna know what I find sexy? Let's see...the pressure of your pouty lips on mine. Caressing, tasting, every inch of your naked body. Making love to you and hearing you scream, begging for more. Making you mine. Still waiting...

Tristan. Eric. I never wanted to hurt anyone. Maybe I should let them both go?
My stomach squeezed. Tristan. No, I couldn't leave him...not entirely. We'd always be friends, right?

Shit, why did this have to be so hard? Why couldn't life and all its distractions just fade away?
