 Waiting on Wednesday #1

http://i50.tinypic.com/35jgtox.jpg

Is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
The book that I am very excited for this week is:

Tiger's Destiny (The Tiger Saga, #4)

 Author: Colleen Houck

Publication: September 4th, 2012

Publisher: Splinter

Purchase: Amazon  Barnes & Noble

With three of the goddess Durga's quests behind them, only one prophecy now stands in the way of Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan breaking the tiger's curse. But the trio's greatest challenge awaits them: A life-endangering pursuit in search of Durga's final gift, the Rope of Fire, on the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal.  It's a race against time--and the evil sorcerer Lokesh--in this eagerly anticipated fourth volume in the bestselling Tiger's Curse series, which pits good against evil, tests the bonds of love and loyalty, and finally reveals the tigers' true destinies once and for all.

I was one of the lucky 25 people to receive this ARC in April.  The ARC doesn't have the last 60 pages in it so I have been stuck on a huge cliffhanger since April.  I can't wait to see what happens to my tiger's, especially Ren.  This is a great series that I recommend everyone to read!!!!

Author Interview with Gina Rosati and Giveaway

  Gina RosatiAuracle
Gina Rosati was born and raised in Boston suburbia, and now lives in Merrimack, New Hampshire with her husband, two teenage children and two chubby guinea pigs. Gina is a long time volunteer at her local middle school library, and a member of SCBWI, the Apocalypsies and the Class of 2k12 debut author groups.

                                                                 Auracle Synopsis

16 year old Anna Rogan has a secret she's only shared with her best friend, Rei; she can astrally project out of her body, allowing her spirit to explore the world and the far reaches of the universe.

When there's a fatal accident and her classmate Taylor takes over Anna's body, what was an exhilarating distraction from her repressive home life threatens to become a permanent state. Faced with a future trapped in another dimension, Anna turns to Rei for help. Now the two of them must find a way to get Anna back into her body and stop Taylor from accusing an innocent friend of murder. Together Anna and Rei form a plan but it doesn't take into account the deeper feelings that are beginning to grow between them.

1.  Is there going to be a sequel to Auracle?  Why or why not

No, Auracle is a stand alone novel. If I decide to continue Anna and Rei's story, they'll be secondary characters in a companion novel told from Callie's POV (which would flesh out Seth's story), but that's so very up in the air right now.

2.  How did you come up with the idea of the main character, Anna, being able to astrally project?  And the story as a whole?

I used to have recurring nightmares that were very vivid and always accompanied by a deafening buzz in my head. I researched them and came up with lucid dreams and sleep paralysis, which can be caused by stress. Years later, I was reading a book by psychic Sylvia Browne, and she described my dreams right down to the buzz. She said this occurs during an out-of-body experience, when you wake up half in, half out of your body. She also says to take from her books only what resonates with you. Since I don't do stress well, I still think they were caused by lucid dreams/sleep paralysis, but the writer in me wondered, "what if?" Then, of course, I wondered whether someone could get into an abandoned body, and I took a walk to a local waterfall, and the story unfolded from there.

3.  I'm sure this story took a lot of research and thought.  Can you give us insight on your writing process and how much research went into the story?

I drafted Auracle one summer five years ago, then I tucked it into a drawer until January 2nd, when I spent 4 months revising. I love research. My first real job was as a page in the reference section of a library, and I currently volunteer in a middle school library, so I do have mad research skills, and lots of resources. I spent a lot of time researching Auracle because it was so much fun to research. As a result,. I have an extra 300+ pages that never made it into the story because it was all needless detail that slowed the story down. Among other things, I researched astral projection, energy (physics), energy (metaphysics), some of the coolest places to explore on earth (and in the known universe), addictive personalities, and I even got a tattoo for research (although they are addictive, so now I have three :)

4.  What are you currently working on or in the future?

I'm working on a historical/fantasy/speculative/sci-fi/romance. I'm really looking forward to all the research needed for this one!

5.  What was your favorite aspect on writing this story?

The love story!! I'm such a sucker for a love story.

6.  If you could trade places with one character in your book who would it be and why?  What character would you trade places with one day from another story?

I'd want to trade places with Anna - I'd love to be able to astral project! Plus, she gets to hang out with Rei.
And from another story?
Considering how we authors are so awful to our characters, I'd have to say absolutely, positively, it would have to be Eloise from The Plaza, because I'd love a day to skip around The Plaza, ring the bell whenever I like and annoy people in such a charming way. Although if George R.R. Martin wasn't torturing Arya Stark on every other page, I'd choose her because you don't get more awesome than Arya Stark.

Review: Auracle by Gina Rosati

Auracle Title: Auracle

I am very thankful that Gina sent me a signed ARC of Auracle.  I will treasure it forever.

I was very excited about reading this book early.  This is the first book I have read about astral projection.  That itself makes this book phenomenal.  It was very nice to be able to read something different.  It would be very cool to astrally project.  The places and things Anna gets to see are truly amazing.

I truly adored the characters.  Well, most of them anyway.  I really wanted to hurt Taylor.  What she put Anna, Rei, and Seth through, was truly horrible.  By the end of the story though, I did sympathize with her.  Anna was a great antagonist.  She was hilarious, kind and always putting others before herself which made her easy to relate to.  She also had issues with her home life as do many of us.  She faced a lot of struggles and still cam out out strong and passionate.  Rei is definitely swoon-worthy!!!!  He is so protective over his friends, especially Anna.  He has been her rock since they were little.  I just loved that the characters seemed so believable, life-like.

Gina's writing style was very descriptive and beautiful.  This book had me on the edge of my seat.  I had no clue what was going to happen.

I am all about the romance in the stories.  Rei and Anna are best friends.  Through everything they face during this story, their feelings grow stronger and deeper.  I really loved that about this book.  This isn't no love at first sight type of book.

Favorite quote/scene:  I had to pick two for this one.

There cannot be a better place anywhere in the universe than right here, lying next to Rei.  I rest my hand on his chest, just over his heart, and he weaves his fingers through mine.  It's an almost perfect moment. But what would I do for this boy I have known for my entire life?  Would I give up the keys to the universe?  I would.

He leans up to meet me halfway, and connection between us is audible, like a seat belt clicking together.  Like a key opening a lock.  Like the first bite of a warm cinnamon roll with melted icing, his kiss is warm and sweet and tender.  I can't help it, "Mmmmm" just slips out, and I feel his lips smile against mine.  He moves his hand down my back and rolls us over so I'm on the bottom, and deep inside my stomach, there's an insatiable feeling that I could just stay right here kissing Rei until....the bottom of the world drops out.

I am going to stop that quote right there.  It is one of the funniest quotes in the story.  I can't help laughing every time I read it.  You all will have to read this book to see what happens next.

I  can describe the cover of this book with one word. Beautiful. It has to be one of my favorite covers ever made.

Auracle is an AMAZING debut.  I wish this wasn't a standalone.  I want to read more about Anna and Rei.  I can't wait to read more of Gina's stories.

Jude @ In Between and Jennifer @ Some Like it Paranormal.

The Summer Wrap-up Read-a-Thon gives you motivation to catch on some books that you weren't able to get to over the summer.  For me, there are so many to choose from.  I just keep buying book after book.  I have never participated in a Read-a-Thon so I am very excited about this.  I decided to focus on four books to read at this time.

Hemlock (Hemlock, #1)    Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1)    Fated (Soul Seekers, #1)      Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires, #12)

I will be updating my progress on Twitter.  If you are participating in this Read-a-Thon, I would like to hear from you.  It will be fun to compare notes and reviews.
