My Review

I fell in love with this story from beginning to end.  descension was a captivating read that had me hoked after the very first page.  Once I started this story, I couldn't put the book down.  What I loved about this book was its uniqueness and originality.  I haven't read another book like it.  This story was beautifully written and well though out.  I loved how Burgess described the scenes so  perfectly that it felt as if I was right there with them.  I was able to picture everything going on, and I was able to feel the emotions that the characters gave off.

Layla pretty much has a boring life.  After taking care of her mother for three years, Katherine died and Layla was left in turmoil.  She had such a hard time getting out of her state.  The only reason she fought was due to her to best friends that she worked with.  I have to say that Travis is a great friend.  He would do anything for her and I loved him for that.  Travis and Phyllis finally got Layla to go to Oregon to search for her missing family.  When she gets to Oregon, she meets the dreamy Quin who she has immediate connection with.  After finding out that she descends from a long line of powerful witches she begins her journey.

Quin is just as gorgeous as they come.  He is simply perfect.  He would do anything for Layla.  He has dreamed about her since he was little and hoped against all hope that he would eventually meet her.  When he finally saw her, he couldn't look at anyone else.  She was just perfect in his eyes.  Quin is so thoughtful and caring that I couldn't help not falling in love with him.  It was so sweet when they first met how he took her shoes off for her and carried her to the beach.  He is just a perfect gentlemen.  I would marry him in a heartbeat.

Argos is creepy and scary.  I always hate the evil doers in books so I definitely do not like him.  Layla is the one person he wanted when she was a baby.  He was told that she died being born.  21 years later he finds out she lives.  Now he will do everything to get his hands on her and her power.

descension had me crying so many times.  I even cried at the beginning of the book.  It wasn't a sad book, but a few sad things happened that tore me to pieces.  I couldn't quit crying.  I was so thankful I read this book at home and not at work.

dscension had so many twists and turns that it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.  I am really hoping there is a second book, because I really did love this story. The ending left off with a cliffhanger definitely leaving me wanting more.   This is a book I will definitely reread.  Burgess did a fantastic job with this story.  I can't wait to see what else happens to these characters.  I really adored them.  I need the second book NOW!!!!  This is a must read everyone!!!!!
