My Review

Long Road Full Speed Ahead was a beautifully written story that some people can relate to and some not.  There was no happy ending in this story, becasue a lot of times there isn't a happy ending.  There is just reality.  Emily crafted a story that contains  real situations that happen to a lot of people everyday.  The story focuses on drugs, abuse, alcohol and a few other choices or situations that college students face.  What I loved about this book was the way it immediately captured my interest.  Once I started reading, I didn't want to put the book down.  I was right there along with Grace wondering why she kept going down this path she was on, and hoping that she would fight her way back to the top.

Grace was a character that a lot of people could connect to in one way or another.  I couldn't relate to her on the smoking or doing drugs, because I have never smoked or tried any type of drug before.  But I did relate to her in other ways.  I couldn't believe how everything changed so quickly for her.  One minute she was a good girl, then after her first try, she couldn't stop.  It just kept getting worse and worse.  I kept yelling at her to quit.  I hated Grayson with a passion.  He knew he had her hooked and that no matter what she would take him back.  he treated her like crap.  I liked Cory in this book.  There was just something about him that captured my attention.  I didn't like him doing drug though.

Like I said, this book has a lot of truth to it.  Long Road Full Speed Ahead was very real and very raw.  I can tell that Emily put a lot of work and research into this story by giving vivid descriptions of the symptoms of drug use and alcohol use.  I felt like I was right there with the characters and experiencing it all with them.  That made the story even better for me.

The only issues I had with the story is that I wished I could have seen some more wow moments.  The first half of the book was about them going partying and doing drugs.  They just kept going to party after party, drinking and doing drugs.  There was just something missing.  I wanted to see more development to the plot.  But other than that, it was a great book.  I do recommend this book to everyone over the age of 18.  I can't wait to read more books from Emily!!!

I also must point out that I love the cover!!!  Something about it just captures my attention.  love it!!!
