Goodreads Synopsis

Love, life, and happily ever after? It’s all relative.

Marine biology student Emma Pierce lives in paradise—geographically speaking, anyway. Stranded on Sanibel Island, Florida, she works at a nursing home by day and spends her nights dodging the island's infamous bad boy, Jackson Taylor, at her favorite karaoke bar. Trying to heal from the loss of her sister and a failed relationship she rerouted her life for, she's ready to graduate and finally leave Florida behind.

When a run-in with Jackson and his rowdy crew goes sour at the bar one night, sparks fly and irreversible damage is done. It’s no secret that Jackson loves to get underneath her skin, but this time he's gone too far. Now all he wants is to earn her forgiveness before she's gone for good, but their ideas of closure—and the future—are enough to keep them worlds apart.

My Review

This book was flipping FANTASTIC!!!!! Holy smokes!!!  This is the first book I have read of Rachael's, and I absolutely fell in love with it.  I will definitely be reading her other books.  Love and Relativity just blew me away.  It was breathtaking!!!  The book was not only about love conquers all.  It was also about forgiveness, sacrifice and change.  I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.  It took me on an emotional roller coaster ride.  I laughed, cried, jumped up and down, and at times wanted to hurt some of the characters.  Love and Relativity was beautifully written.  I was able to feel everything the characters felt and I loved that!!!  It is like they were friends of mine as well, and I was right there along with them rooting them on.

When Emma's sister died and Chris broke up with her, she basically quit moving.  She gave up her dreams until Jackson helped her remember them.  Jackson had a different girl on his shoulder every week until he finally got his chance with Emma.  He has waited a long time for that chance, and he refuses not to mess it up.  Not one person believed that Jackson was a one woman man.  He proved them all wrong though.  They grew closer and closer the more they spent time together.  When Emma finally receives her acceptance letter to Pike Pacific in Seattle everything changes.  Jackson is happy for her, but very sad at the same time.  He breaks both of their hearts so she can get out of Florida, a place he plans on never leaving. After he made several huge mistakes, he asks her for forgiveness.  He lets her know how much he loves her and makes sure she will never forget.  He wants a second chance when she is ready.  Emma shows up the next day to find Jackson to put everything behind, but he is gone.  He left Florida for a new job and she has no clue where.

The character development in this story was beautifully written and amazing!!!  I fell in love with all the characters.  There wasn't a character I didn't like.  Each character won a piece of my heart.  My favorite characters were Emma, Jackson and Carter though. I couldn't wait to read scenes that involved them, especially the guys.  I adored them!!!  The way Jackson changes in this story was beautiful to watch.  I love watching the bad boys turn soft.  Jackson really changes though.  When he finally gets the girl of his dreams, he sees life in a new way.  Wants to be a better person.  Who could not love Jackson!!!

Emma and Jackson are both broken.  She always thought he was happy and carefree until she finally took the time to get to know him. They are complete opposites, but like he said "It's good that we're opposites.  We'd be bored to death if we had everything in common." Jackson has always loved Emma unconditionally.  He knew she was his from the moment she walked into Pete's three years ago. But she didn't want to be another conquest of his and she let him know that.  Since he couldn't have her, he remained his bad boy self.  He couldn't love anyone other than her so why try.  I loved how persistent they both were.  They never gave up on each other.  They brought each other strength and was able to see inside each other.  It was beautiful.  Emma didn't see what everyone else saw in Jackson.  She saw someone completely different.  Jackson and Emma both made mistakes.  Jackson never thought he was good enough for Emma.  He didn't think highly of himself at all.  I really wanted to hurt Jackson sometimes, but he really did show me how much he loved her when he gave her up to follow her dreams.  That tore me to pieces.

Carter is simply sweet and adorable.  I am glad Whitney got together with him instead of Ruben.  Carter is a very loyal friend.  He was rooting for Jackson and Emma the entire time.  He was always there when they needed them.  I loved how he was always secretly pushing each one of them into fixing their problems.  It was so cute.  He would be a great friend to have.  Whitney is a great friend as well.  She always had Emma's back and watched over her no matter what.  That is true friendship.

I have one word for this book.  EPIC!!!!  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book!!!  I definitely will be buying it in paperback as well.  Love and Relativity is a book that I will continue to reread over and over.  I fell in love with story as long with the characters.  This book truly moved me.  I recommend this book to everyone!!!  It is a MUST READ!!!!

The cover is just as gorgeous as well!!!!

Favorite Quote/Scene

"You could never be just another girl to me, Emma.  Wasn't I the one to say to you the other night that I know you don't do casual?"

"That's just it though.  You do.  You're not going to change overnight, Jackson.  You were a playboy before I met you and you're still one now.  And that's the last thing I would want, is for you to be something you're not.  Our relationship would be doomed from the start if it were founded on trying to change one another."

"Don't you get it?"  He stood from the bed, a glint in his eyes, the softness gone.  "I wouldn't be changing for you, I'd be changing because of you."

This is just a teaser from that scene.  You will have to get the book to see what happens next!!!
